On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the football community will once again gather at Unizee Sport Ground, Ikorodu, Lagos State, as the FEFCAN Championship 2025/2026 officially kicks off.
More than just another football competition, this championship continues a vision dedicated to transforming grassroots football through innovation, professionalism, and opportunity.
This season’s theme, “Building Legacies,” marks the natural progression from last year’s inspiring message, “Fueling Dreams, Forging Legends.” Dreams have been ignited, talents have been discovered, and future stars have taken their first major steps. Now, the focus shifts to creating lasting impact by developing careers, strengthening clubs, and building a championship whose influence extends far beyond the final whistle.
Raising the Standard
The previous edition of the FEFCAN Championship demonstrated that grassroots football can be organized to the highest professional standards. Competitive matches, outstanding individual performances, quality officiating, and efficient tournament management earned praise from clubs, coaches, football administrators, and supporters alike.
Several players secured new opportunities through the competition, while participating clubs benefited from greater exposure and a professionally managed tournament environment. These achievements further strengthened FEFCAN’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading grassroots football platforms.

One of the defining achievements of the last championship was the successful implementation of FEFCAN’s digital competition management system.
Paperless player registration, digital accreditation, online player profiles, fixtures, results, disciplinary records, and competition statistics streamlined tournament operations and enhanced the experience for clubs, officials, supporters, and the media.
This season, those innovations have been taken even further.
The 2025/2026 championship will feature an enhanced digital platform offering faster updates, improved player data management, richer competition statistics, seamless fixture administration, and an even more interactive experience for clubs and football fans.

Ahead of the opening ceremony, FEFCAN President Oyekan Oluwatobi reaffirmed the association’s commitment to raising the standard with every edition.
According to him, the goal is not simply to organize another successful championship but to continually improve every aspect of the competition from tournament organization and digital infrastructure to officiating, media coverage, and talent development.
He emphasized that every new season should provide participating clubs with an experience built on professionalism, integrity, fairness, and excellence while creating genuine opportunities for talented footballers to showcase their abilities.
