One of Just Eight Selected from 147 Applicants Across 13 African Countries
The Female Football Clubs Association of Nigeria (FEFCAN) has earned major international recognition after receiving an invitation to participate in the Cheetah Cup 2026, an annual football tournament bringing together emerging talents from across Africa.
The invitation represents a significant milestone for FEFCAN, as the association is one of only eight teams selected from 147 teams that applied across 13 African countries.
Even more remarkably, FEFCAN is one of just two Nigerian teams invited to the competition and the only female team from Nigeria to receive an invitation.
The achievement places FEFCAN on an exciting international platform and further highlights the growing recognition of the association’s efforts to develop women’s football and provide young players with opportunities to compete at a higher level.
⚔️ FEFCAN Drawn in Tough Group A
FEFCAN Ladies have been handed a challenging assignment after being drawn in Group A, alongside three strong Ghanaian clubs:
🇬🇭 Blessed Ladies
🇬🇭 FC Samartex Ladies
🇬🇭 Sissamba Ladies
The group promises to be a fascinating and highly competitive battle, with all three Ghanaian sides bringing quality, experience and ambition to the tournament.
Blessed Ladies
Blessed Ladies FC compete in the Ghanaian Women’s Division One League and recently reached the semi-finals of the Ghana FA Cup, demonstrating their ability to compete strongly against established opposition.
Their recent FA Cup run makes them one of the teams FEFCAN will need to watch closely when the competition begins.
FC Samartex Ladies
FC Samartex Ladies compete in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, Ghana’s top division of women’s football.
Their presence in Group A brings top-flight experience and adds another layer of difficulty to what promises to be a demanding group for the Nigerian representatives.
For FEFCAN, facing a club from Ghana’s premier division will provide a valuable opportunity to measure its players against established top-level opposition.
Sissamba Ladies
Sissamba Ladies compete in the Ghanaian Women’s Division One League and recently came agonisingly close to securing promotion to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.
Their strong promotion challenge demonstrates the competitiveness and quality within the squad, making them another formidable opponent for FEFCAN.
FEFCAN Ladies are ready to make their mark at Cheetah Cup 2026. 🇳🇬⚽🔥
