Akwa United Football Club has bid farewell to former captain Ubong Essien following the end of his time with the Promise Keepers, bringing to a close a memorable chapter in the club’s history.
A respected leader on and off the pitch, Essien served the club with unwavering commitment and professionalism throughout his spell in the famous orange and white colours. His leadership, experience and dedication made him an integral part of the team, while his contributions helped create many unforgettable moments for the club and its supporters.
During his time at Akwa United, Essien wore the captain’s armband with distinction, leading by example and embodying the values and fighting spirit that define the Promise Keepers. His influence extended beyond the pitch, earning the admiration of teammates, coaches and fans alike.
Although his journey with Akwa United has come to an end, the impact he made at the club will not be forgotten. The memories created during his time in Uyo will remain an important part of the club’s story.
