In a dramatic turn of events, the Nigeria National League (NNL) has expelled Lagos-based outfit 1472 FC from the ongoing 2024/2025 season. The club’s journey came to an abrupt end after it failed to honour three critical fixtures — against Abia Comets (Match 9), Dakkada FC (Match 53), and Ijele FC (Match 74).
Citing a breach of Article 14.11 of the league’s rule book, the NNL, in a letter signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, wasted no time in wielding the big stick. In addition to expulsion, 1472 FC has been slammed with a N5 million fine, underlining the league’s zero-tolerance stance on clubs defaulting on fixtures.
Furthermore, the league management has declared that all results involving 1472 FC are now null and void, and all pending matches have been officially cancelled.
