Sporting Lagos have officially announced the signing of midfielder Valentine Ugwu from Abia Warriors, confirming a transfer that was first reported on #NPFLTransferswithAGT.
The 23-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Lagos-based club, becoming one of Sporting’s latest additions ahead of the new season.
Ugwu joins after spending the second half of the 2025/26 campaign with Abia Warriors, where he featured regularly in the Nigeria Premier Football League. Operating primarily as an attacking midfielder, he made 14 league appearances, contributing a goal and an assist while establishing himself as a reliable option in the heart of midfield.
Comfortable both as a No. 10 and in a deeper central midfield role, Ugwu brings energy, technical quality, and versatility to Sporting Lagos’ squad. His ability to link play between midfield and attack is expected to add another dimension to the team’s buildup and chance creation.
The move represents another important piece of business for Sporting Lagos as the club continues to strengthen ahead of the upcoming campaign. Club officials are understood to be keen on adding young, ambitious players with room for development, and Ugwu fits that profile perfectly.
For the player, the transfer offers an opportunity to take the next step in his career and become part of Sporting Lagos’ long-term project.
As exclusively reported on #NPFLTransferswithAGT, the deal is now complete.
